Slow River Books is a small independent publishing house founded on the belief that books can open doors to different ways of thinking, feeling and living.

We believe there is room in the world for stories that question familiar assumptions, for ideas that take us somewhere unexpected, and for voices that might otherwise struggle to be heard.

We are not defined by a particular genre. Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, philosophy and personal reflections can all find a home here. What matters is the honesty of the writing, the curiosity behind it, and the possibility that something within its pages might stay with the reader.

But Slow River Books is also about the people who write.

Publishing a book can feel like a daunting journey. Traditional publishing can be difficult to enter, while self-publishing often asks writers to become editors, designers, marketers and publishers all at once.

We want to make that journey a little less intimidating.

Through thoughtful editorial work, careful bookmaking and practical publishing support, we hope to create a welcoming space where independent authors can develop their ideas and bring their books into the world.
